THE OMEGA BLAST
Who doesn’t love a great milkshake?
But now in my 40s, like many people I come across, I’m afraid of calories, fat, sugar, chemicals and all the other bad things inside them.
That said, I still have that little kid inside me screaming for one, so I turned to my lifelong study of plants to find a solution for something that taste amazing and is good for you too and, Voilà!
I created an all-natural super yummy, super healthy, plant based, sugar free milkshake that I call:
The Omega Blast
I’m told that my creation not only tastes as good as a Baskin Robbins shake, but it also has the added benefit of keeping skin shiny and tight, lubricating joints, keeping your brain and organs healthy while also repairing and promoting healthy nerves. After all, if you're going to eat something, you might as well eat things that not only taste great but also have redeeming benefits for your overall health!
Before I reveal the simple ingredients and how to prepare the Blast, it’s first important to understand some basics about good fats and bad fats that I'll mention coming up:
LDL = Low Density Lipoproteins.
L = think of Lard = bad bats.
Anything that sinks to the bottom are the heavy bad fats.
HDL = High Density Lipoproteins
H = Healthy = oil = good fats.
Anything that floats to the top are the good fats.
Ok, so what’s in The Omega Blast?
Super simple but super effective. All you need are the following ingredients:
Avocado: in the plant-based world, you can’t find a better source of Omega 3s and unsaturated fat, which I refer to as “good fats” given this is the type of fat essential for our bodies to function. As mentioned above, medical science refers to these as “HDLs,” fats that are critical for lubricating our joints, organs, skin and much more.
Including these fats in our diet helps remove the LDL “bad fats” such as saturated fats, cholesterol and trans fats found in many things we eat. These bad fats pile up in our bodies and cause all sorts of problems due to the fact we can’t break them down. Trans fats are the worst kind of LDL because these trans fats, often referred to as vegetable shortening, which is like margarine, are made in the laboratory. Think of Trans Fats as motor oil, we simply can’t break it down. Essentially, we are consuming motor oil and that’s why our body doesn’t know how to dispose of it, leading to deadly accumulations that causes an array of systemic disease that is killing many Americans.
To help understand this a bit better, did you know your veins stretch nearly 100,000 miles through your body? Now imagine these veins as a highly complex, underground freeway tunnel system where blood travels to deliver all sorts of nutrients wherever needed in our body. LDLs are like heavy, big rigs that sink and remain at the bottom of the tunnel. They are big, heavy clumpy, occupy lot of space and are accident prone. The more accumulation of trans-fats and saturated fats, the more congestion it causes in our blood freeway system, slowing down traffic and delaying delivery of food and vital nutrients from red blood cells. The more congestion we have, the more exhaust is released and the more heat we produce. These big rigs and triple decker busses (triglycerides) not only cause congestion but it also blocks out smaller tunnels, clogging our veins, leading to all sorts of systemic disease such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and heart attacks amongst many other possible unwanted issues.
HDL fats, on the other hand, don't sink to the bottom of the tunnel, they move swiftly through it. Think of these fats as sending little iron balls with thick spikes through our tunnel system where they slowly break down, chisel away, bind, and like a tow truck, carry the bad LDLs and dump them out the colon.
Unlike LDLs that sink to the bottom, when I prepare The Omega Blast, the HDL avocados float to the top, they don't sink! This is exactly what happens when they travel through your blood!
Any excess good HDL fats simply get dumped out of our body when it doesn’t need them. For all you dieters out there, don’t be concerned about the calories here. In the world of plant-based foods, if the body doesn’t need what you deliver, it’ll simply break them down and remove them, proving once again that Mother Nature is the root of all things good for us!
Simply put, Omega 3s clean the blood, removing the bad fats that lead to overweight physiques and all the harmful issues that come with it.
Other benefits include:
- Healthy skin: omegas tighten our skin, keep it supple, shiny and tight.
- Vitamin C for collagen formation.
- Plant based proteins for muscle growth.
- Potassium for muscle movement, brain and nerve ending function, conduction and repair.
- High source of fiber to clean out our system (think of Fiber as a soft cotton rag that scrubs its way through our blood vessels and digestive system, cleaning off all the junky stuff).
- Folic acid, essential for nerve endings to repair and remain healthy.
- Magnesium, an essential element for healing, regeneration and repair.
- Vitamin K for bone formation that helps prevent osteoporosis and blood clotting factors that causes cellular mutations manifested into cancer.
- Better gut, digestive health.
- Maintaining kidney health.
- Reducing arthritis pain.
- Keeping gums and teeth healthy.
- Maintaining and repairing liver health.
- Antioxidants and much more.
Unsweetened Almond Milk: my #1 milk choice. It’s very low in calories and unlike most animal milks that contain a high amount of chemicals, hormones, and pesticides. The mighty shell of armor around the almond protects the seed from insecticides, herbicides, and other chemicals. This is why almond milk is my go-to alternative milk source over that of choices such as Oats, Soy and Cashew milk.
Other benefits include:
- Increasing brain activity.
- Eye health.
- Heart health.
- Lower blood pressure.
- Increasing immunity.
- Better bone and teeth health.
- Lowering the bad LDL cholesterol.
- Increased metabolism and more.
Monk Sugar: calorie and sugar free, 100% plant based, no chemicals and ~300 times sweeter than regular sugar: a dieter’s dream come true!
Other benefits include:
- Powerful antioxidants.
- Unique metabolism that does not spike insulin.
- Weight loss.
- No effect on blood sugar levels.
- Strengthened immunity.
Dark Chocolate Nips: the darker and more bitter the taste, the higher the anti-cancerous properties.
MAKING THE BLAST
Ok, making The Blast is super easy even for a kitchen nerd like me.
All you need to do is scoop the “meat” from the avocado, blend with Almond Milk and Monk Sugar and the outcome is nothing short of divine.
If you desire a fluffier, whipped texture, simply add more avocado. It’ll feel like you’re drinking a whipped milk shake that is utterly ridiculous in terms of taste and bliss!
I suggest playing around with the amount of each ingredient to find your own happiness but for me, this is generally what I use for an individual shake:
- 1 medium avocado
- 1 quart of cold almond milk
- 6-7 teaspoons monk sugar
Blend at high speed for 30-40 seconds and Viola!!!! Your super creamy, super yummy and super healthy Omega Blast is now ready for the belly to enjoy and your body to smile given all it’s amazing healing qualities!
For those that might need a little eye candy motivation to try it, I recommend sprinkling a tablespoon or two of dark chocolate nips on top. For pesky kids or others that don’t like trying new things, I find these are helpful bait to lure ‘em in!
IN CLOSING
I have fun playing around with the recipe. Sometimes I’ll blend a banana in, other times I’ll add a little 100% natural coconut water to give it a unique taste and other times I’ll even blend in a little plain, natural, and organic oatmeal to give the belly a fuller feeling when I want to use it as a meal replacement or mid-afternoon snack.
Whatever you do, just remember: The Omega Blast not only tastes amazing, but it helps replace the bad stuff with the good.
I thank you so very much to take the time to read my article, I welcome comments below and wish you a great day ahead!
